Second Grade Pointillism




Students created a landscape that included three sections of pointillism.  Students painted the background with water colors and created a pointillism technique with markers.

Fourth Grade Line Design Op Art



Students created an Op art design.  They colored the back ground using a pattern.  They also created an area of high light and shadow to give the illusion that their artwork is 3-D.

Third Grade Op Art




Students created an op art pattern and painted a design over top thier pattern.

First grade Fall Leaves



Students created Fall Leaves by doing an observational drawing from a real leaf.  They added detail and wind lines in the background.  Next, students used the warm colors to paint leaves and the cool colors for the wind.

Kindergarten Fall Leaves


Students created leaf rubbings from real leaves utilizing the warm colors.  They painted their background with the cool colors.

Kindergarten Mondrian Primary Colors


Students created nonobjected art using the primary colors after artist Piet Mondrian.

Save the Date for the Art Fair

Dec. 19th SLE will be hosting an art fair.  This is a fundraiser to sell each child's artwork to the parents to make money for the art program.  This money goes towards paint, paint brushes, paper, clay etc. Thank you for your support. More details to come.

Third Grade: Op Art

Students created a pattern on grid paper and colored the image like a check board to create an Op Art design.
 


Second Grade: Color Wheel Tree





 

Students were inspired by Kandinsky.  They created Abstract art using lines.  They also created a creative color wheel in the background.


First Grade: Hot Air Balloon Patterns



 

Students created a pattern on their hot air balloon and painted the background to represent a time of the day or weather.
 


Kindergarten: Color Wheel

 
Students created a color wheel flower.  Thier focus was to learn the three primary colors.  Blue, Red, and Yellow.


Fourth Grade: OP Art Line Design

Students created an op art design using curved lines.  They are still in the process of coloring their artwork.  They will emphasize on value/ shading and pattern when they are coloring.

Welcome to the 2013-14 School Year!

I am excited to get our first project underway next week.  This past week, students were busy completing their pretest assessments to chart their artistic growth.  I am excited for a great year!

Rain Barrels



All SLE students are painting a rain barrel that is going to be auctioned off on May 20th at the Environmental Expo to make money for our school.  We are helping the environment and our school!

Third Grade: 1 point perspective Cities

Students created a city in one point perspective with a horizon line and vanishing point.

First Grade: Symmetry

Kaleidoscope designs: Students created symmetrical designs by folding and transferring the design four times.

First Grade: Self Portraits

 
Students studied face proportions to create a realistic self portrait.

Kindergarten: Monet's Forest

Students painted a sun set landscape, using realistic colors.  Next they cut out tall birch trees and added details.  Lastly, they glue on their trees to their background.
 
 

Fourth Grade: Two point perspectives


Second Grade: Batik Fish

Students created an underwater scene with pencil first.  Then they traced pencil with glue.  Next, they filled all black space with chalk.  The glue served as a resist in the paper.
