Students used real leafs to create realistic prints. They used the warm colors to add a design to the background.

Third grade is teaming up with high school artists
Two third grade classes have been asked to participate in this very cool collaboration with the Kings High School Art department. Third graders studied about a career in art as a character designer, like in the move Monsters Inc. They created their character and then the high school student will make their character out of paper mache. The character will be completed and returned to the SLE student.

Artwork of the month and artist of the month
Skyline Artwork of the Month
This artwork will be displayed at Skyline for the month of October. Congratulations 4th grader, Anyi Metzger! Anyi's Op art was selected. Also pictured, is Kings' Alum 2008 Kelli Warden who manages at Skyline. Kelli currently is also a nurse at Children's Hospital.

Art vocabulary
These are words that we will use to talk about art. They are called the elements and principles of design.
Kindergarten Lines
The first two weeks of art were spent taking a pretest and learning about the classroom and expectations. The pretest shows the student skills at the beginning of the year. Students will create a project that involves images about their life and incorporates the element of art (line).
This artwork will be all about the student. They are using LINE to create their letters and background. They are drawing one object to represent themselves.
First Grade Abstract Art
The first two weeks of art were spent taking a pretest and learning about the classroom and expectations. The pretest shows the student skills at the beginning of the year. Students will be starting a project that is inspired by Abstract Art.
Second Grade Color Wheel
The first two weeks of art were spent taking a pretest and learning about the classroom and expectations. The pretest shows the student skills at the beginning of the year. Second grade students will learn about the color wheel and create an artwork inspired by the primary and secondary colors.
